Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 9th February, 2015: A world-class line-up of musicians, DJs, comedians, beatboxers and street artists will keep thousands of families and food lovers entertained at this week’s highly-anticipated Dubai Food Carnival presented by Etisalat - the UAE’s leading international culinary and entertainment event running 12-14 February at the waterfront Dubai International Marine Club.
With a compelling entertainment bill proving decisive in last year’s inaugural Dubai Food Carnival being voted ‘Best Exhibition of the Year’ at the 2014 Middle East Event Awards, the Carnival’s presenting partner Etisalat will add to the Main Stage entertainment schedule by rolling out a series of activities in two dedicated family areas this year. Activities include healthy smoothie-making and water melon eating competitions, puppet shows, face painting, parades, DJ Sarah L of Ministry of Sound fame, a ‘guess what you’re eating’ competition and culinary-themed quizzes.
The UAE’s leading comedian Ali Al Sayed, dubbed ‘one of the most influential comedians in the world’ by Toastmaster’s International Magazine, will also make an appearance in Etisalat’s live cooking comedy show. Al Sayed will also perform daily stand-up sets on the Main Stage.
Fares Hamad Fares, Vice President - Corporate Communications, Etisalat said: “Our focus on family entertainment in the UAE is part of our commitment to align with the country’s efforts to strengthen its appeal as a cultural and recreational destination, both locally and globally. Through our strategic association with Dubai Food Carnival, we seek to enrich the overall entertainment experience for people of all ages. Importantly, it helps us bolster the UAE’s position as a leading tourist destination and reach out to millions of visitors from around the world.”
With a plethora of Dubai’s top musical talent and entertainment acts also lined up for multiple daily stints on the Main Stage, Beatboxer Crunksta will perform exhilarating sets featuring beatbox renditions of pop music hits, movie trailers and stand-up comedy routines. Elsewhere, popular Irish F&B outlet McGettigan’s house bands and solo artists will rock a side stage, while Street Nights - a community-based celebration of street culture – will give a series of live street art performances, impressive graffiti canvases and world-class break-dancing across the venue.
“Dubai Food Carnival is aimed at Dubai’s multinational population and our vibrant entertainment bill has been selected to satisfy both local and international tastes,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Department, DWTC. “With more than 40 food and beverage outlets and 80 food brands exhibiting at the event, our diverse entertainment offering will ensure this year’s Dubai Food Carnival cements its standing as a true al fresco extravaganza and the ultimate food-themed family event for Dubai’s residents and visitors.”
In addition, parents can keep little ones entertained at the fully-supervised Naughty Corner, where a wealth of activities for kids of all ages include Bouncy Castles, Bungee Swings, Electric Trains, Face Painting and all-new Pizza Making station.
With a host of public transport options available to and from Dubai International Marine Club, Dubai Food Carnival organisers have arranged shuttle buses to the event venue from free parking sites at Sky Dive Dubai and Nakheel Gateway at the bottom of the Palm Jumeirah. Fun water taxis from Sky Dive Dubai to Dubai International Marine Club will also be in operation, while the public are also recommended to take the new Dubai Tram service to the Carnival’s location opposite Mina Seyahi station. In addition, the Carnival’s partnership with Uber will see new subscribers to the world’s leading transport service app rewarded with a promotional code worth AED100 of complimentary travel either to or from the event.
