Company officialsvisits Thalassemia Patients in Latifa Hospital, Dubai
Malabar Gold & Diamonds, one of the leading jewellery retailers in the Middle East urges the citizens and residents of UAE to spread the awareness of blood donation to ease the life of Thalassemia patients in the country.
The officials of Malabar Gold & Diamonds visited over 50 Thalassemiapatients in LatifaHospital, Dubai with the support of MS. Fathma, Social Services Incharge and MS. Maitha Mohammad Hassan, Admin Officer as a part of their CSR activities. Gifts were distributed and they were able to spend some quality time with these patients. They got acquainted with the activities of the department and needs of Thalassemia patients, especially the need forblood donation campaigns for the Thalassemia patients who require blood transfusions frequently.
Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down through families (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in excessive destruction of red blood cells and the treatment for thalassemia depends on the type and severity of disease involved. Generaltreatments include blood transfusions, bone marrow transplant, medications and supplements etc.
About 480 Thalassemia patients visitLatifa hospital regularly for blood transfusion and in UAE there are several Thalassemia patients who are in dire need of blood. It is important to raise the awareness among the residents in UAE about the significance of blood donation and to encourage maximum people to donate blood to help these patients lead a normal life.
