Over 300 jewellery retail outlets across Dubai will participate in the campaign, one of the mega raffles of DSF 2014. The shopping festival has always been an exciting time for connoisseurs of gold as they are also rewarded through the gold and diamond jewellery raffles. In fact during the past 18 years of Dubai Shopping Festival, the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group has given away over 700 kg of gold in prizes.
Speaking after unveiling the Expo 2020 gold coin for DSF 2014, H.E. Laila Suhail, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, said: “The gold and jewellery trade has been a cornerstone of Dubai's retail sector and a key component of the winning element offered by Dubai Shopping Festival every year, as evident by this amazing gold promotion. As the DSF 2014 is the first major event since the successful Expo 2020 bid, this excellent initiative by the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group to offer specially minted EXPO 2020 Host City Dubai gold coins is timely and yet another sign of the strong collaboration between the government sector and private sector. Such cooperation has led to the private sector placing their complete trust in government driven initiatives and working even harder to make events like the Dubai Shopping Festival a great success every year. The Gold and Jewellery Group has played a crucial role in developing and sustaining this partnership, for which we are truly grateful. In fact, when many DSF visitors think of Dubai, they think of gold, a remarkable achievement indeed for the gold traders and Dubai Shopping Festival”.
Addressing the press conference, Mr. Sunny Chittilappilly, the chairman of Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, said: “The mega jewellery promotion campaign will strengthen our 19-year old partnership with Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment. Since the launch of both Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group in 1996 – both have been complimenting the growth of each other while offering the best value to shoppers during the DSF.”
Mr. Saeed Mohammad Mesam Al Falasi, Director, Strategic Alliances Division, DFRE, said: “People from around the world are being attracted to Dubai during DSF because of the many life changing stories that have been created here, thanks to the DFS Mega Raffles like the gold promotion. In fact, this annual gold raffle has contributed to a tremendous inflow of tourists during DSF, as they have discovered that Dubai, the “City of Gold”, is the best place to buy gold and jewellery. The latest promotion by the gold and jewellery group truly enhances our campaign theme that exhort visitors to “Shop at your Best”.”
Mr. Chandu Siroya, Vice Chairman of DGJG reveals: “Add to the economic surge, this year's DSF also coincides with Dubai's EXPO 2020 bid win. In order to celebrate this success and pay tribute to our visionary leaders, DGJG is launching a special edition gold coin commemorating this glorious success. This is in precedence with the last year's coin which carried the ‘candidate city Dubai' message. It's an offer to millions of tourists and visitors to take home this ‘2020 World Expo – Host City Dubai' gold coin as one of the souvenirs. The coin would be an apt reminder of the excellence of vision and leadership this country is witnessing”.
Tomy Joseph, General Manager of DGJG, said: “Due to comfortable pricing, we expect record sale during this DSF, and with the economic growth accelerating at the backdrop of Dubai's historic win of Expo 2020 bid, we expect to see its reflection in the gold and jewellery business.”
