Abu Dhabi, 9 October 2013 – IWC Schaffhausen's newest boutique at The Galleria witnessed an opening with a charitable twist. IWC's Friend of the Brand and legendary footballer Zinédine Zidane spent a day with the children from Special Care Centre treating them to an exciting football match. ENGINEERING FOR MEN WHO LOVE FOOTBALL
Constantly strengthening its commitment to charity by supporting initiatives around the world, IWC Schaffhausen invited Friend of the Brand Zinédine Zidane to participate in its recent altruistic endeavour with Special Care Centre in Abu Dhabi. The volunteer charity has been providing education to intellectually and physically challenged children in the capital since 1989 and hosts children from 14 nations. Zinédine Zidane spent a day with the children from the Centre treating them to a special football training session and an exciting football match that was watched by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).
Speaking about the occasion, Sheikh Sultan says, “That was a really exciting match to watch, especially with Zidane playing. It was a pleasure to see the smiles on all the children's faces and, like IWC, we always try to do our part for society in any way that we can.” Zinédine Zidane adds, “I had a lovely time with the children, and I must say there are some budding footballers here. On a more serious note, I am impressed with the Special Care Centre's work and IWC's participation in this noble cause and encourage all of us to take a leaf out of their book and help those less fortunate than us.”
ENGINEERED FOR MEN WHO CARE
Zinédine Zidane also attended the Grand Opening of IWC's new boutique at Abu Dhabi's premier fashion and shopping destination, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island. Heralding the opening of the new boutique, the football legend launched IWC's exceptional fundraising event benefiting the Special Care Centre. IWC has committed itself to donating 10 per cent of all its sales from the brand's new boutique at The Galleria between 9 and 19 October 2013.
IWC Schaffhausen's Brand Director Middle East & India, Karoline Huber, comments on the joint venture: “We applaud Special Care Centre for the work they have been doing since 1989. On behalf of IWC and our Friend of the Brand Zinédine Zidane, it is our pleasure to be able to collaborate with such a selfless group of philanthropists and do our bit for these children.”
