Strong growth figures indicate continued success of trade fairs
Two international conferences launched in Dubai
Leading German trade fair and conference organiser, Epoc Messe Frankfurt, reported a successful 2012 season, with their exhibitions drawing in 76,282 trade visitors and attracting approximately 3,720 exhibitors. This compared favourably with last year's numbers which indicated that 3,400 exhibitors participated in Epoc Messe Frankfurt fairs attracting 75,000 trade visitors. Furthermore, in 2012 Epoc Messe Frankfurt launched two international conferences in Dubai.
The figures mirror the continuing interest among international manufacturers and suppliers in the Middle East growth story. The region's relatively buoyant economic scenario riding on high fuel prices has resisted the downward trends persisting in Europe and North America. Higher disposable incomes and more liberal spending patterns have kept markets attractive and as a result, leading international manufacturers and suppliers have made a beeline to the region.
Epoc Messe Frankfurt-organised trade fairs have gained a reputation for being tightly-focused and result-oriented and have over the years been demonstrably successful in bringing on board new international exhibitors keen to explore the Middle East's business potential. This has also resulted in the exhibitions stimulating growth, promoting business development and creating avenues for an exchange of ideas within the industries they represent.
Local and regional professionals received the newly launched conferences enthusiastically. The First Global Network Conference on Emergency Medicine and The First Middle East and North Africa Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Conference were met with success and will become fixtures on Epoc Messe Frankfurt's annual exhibitions and conferences calendar.
“The continued success of our trade fairs in attracting greater industry-wide participation and involvement can be attributed to the fact that they are finely-tuned to the unique needs and sentiments of the market,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “We carry forward the best traditions of the Messe Frankfurt brand which has been associated with successful trade events for over 900 years. We have been concentrating our efforts on tailoring our exhibitions to meet the regional market expectations.”
“Going forward, we look ahead to a successful 2013 through enhanced development of our established exhibitions and working towards an increased conference line-up. In the meantime we are also looking at further building our regional presence and are evaluating new business opportunities in the region,” Pauwels added.
The best performers among Epoc Messe Frankfurt-organised trade fairs represent key industries that attract high interest in the wider Middle East region. With nearly 20,000 trade visitors from 108 countries going through the doors – an increase of 18% over last year – Intersec continued to be among the most successful exhibitions on the Epoc Messe Frankfurt calendar, with the next edition taking place January 15 to 17, 2013.
The high growth rates Dubai is experiencing in imports, exports and re-exports for the automotive aftermarket was also reflected in the growth of Automechanika Dubai – which this year celebrated 10 years of doing business in the region. The leading automotive aftermarket trade event drew in 20,715 trade visitors from 120 countries and 1,324 exhibitors – up 20% from last year's numbers. Additionally, the size of the overall exhibition grew by 24% in the same period.
Beauty continued to be big business in the region, with Beautyworld Middle East continuing its strong growth story. The leading trade fair for beauty products, hair, fragrances and wellbeing industries drew in nearly 25% more trade visitors than last year (a trade visitor count of 22,243) and saw a 23% increase in space sold.
Other exhibitions under the Epoc Messe Frankurt portfolio include newcomers Paperworld Middle East and Playworld Middle East which enjoyed the 2nd editions during 2012 and now take place annually in March, Hardware+Tools Middle East, Light Middle East and bi-annual trade fair, Materials Handling Middle East with the next edition set to take place in Dubai in September, 2013.
