Dubai, UAE, January 17, 2017:
The Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group today announced continued success of its promotional activities at the Dubai Shopping Festival, which is running from December 26th 2016 until January 28th, 2017.
While analysing the raffle coupons, it is apparent that this year’s DSF saw a larger footfall of tourists into the jewellery stores; many of them are hailing from the GCC region, Europe, South Asia, MENA, America, CIS and Australia. The latest list of gold winners shows that 50 per cent of them are tourists whereas the largest winning community is Indian, who represents the larger chunk of jewellery buying population.
Mr. Tawhid Abdullah, Chairman, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, while commenting on the success, said: “The new year started on a highly positive note for jewellers as they are witnessing an impressive sale season in connection with the Dubai Shopping Festival. The jewellery sector managed to pull in greater footfall into the jewellery stores during the last two weeks and this has translated into an increase in the average value per transaction compared with what it was during the previous three months”.
“Comfortable pricing of gold has also been a major positive factor for incremental business. Based on an analysis we conducted in the midway of DSF 2017, we observed that the participating jewellery outlets witnessed a considerable growth in sales volume - both in ticket sale and number of transactions - during the group promotion compared to the previous year. The figure is steadily growing. 34 kilo gold is a big winning proposition. This year three lucky winners will take home gold every day. Shoppers are eagerly looking forward to this life changing opportunity.” – concluded Mr. Tawhid Abdullah.
The gold price, from the beginning of the campaign, remained affordable, which played an instrumental role during Christmas and New Year sale season that led to an influx of visitors to jewellery outlets.
Even transit passengers can participate in the promotion through Dubai Duty Free from all terminals of Dubai International Airport, which is the world’s busiest airport for international passengers with traffic exceeding 78 million passengers.
Saeed Mohammad Measam Al Falasi, Executive Director, Retail and Strategic Alliances, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), and the organisers of DSF said: “The Dubai Shopping Festival is known to create life-changing moments for visitors from around the world, thanks to mega raffles like the promotion run by the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group. As we are keen to make every visitor during DSF feel happy and enriched, we are delighted that many visitors are flocking to the gold and jewellery outlets to avail themselves of the exciting offers and participating in the daily gold raffles, in addition to availing themselves of numerous other deals and discounts. We are confident that the fantastic efforts being made by the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group will continue to help make shopping in Dubai this DSF a truly rewarding experience.”
The retail promotion campaign organized by Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group is one of the most sought-after promotions of the DSF season. Customers who purchase gold jewellery worth AED 500 will be entitled to one raffle coupon and customers who purchase diamond jewellery, pearl or watches worth AED 500 to get two raffle coupons to take part in the daily raffle draws. Raffle coupons will be provided by all the participating jewellery outlets, kiosks across Dubai and all terminals of Dubai Duty Free during Dubai Shopping Festival.
